  1. More Details About This Event:

The Sippy Cups’ new show expands the unique combination of recast cult classics and winning pop-rock originals that has gained the band their loyal multi-generational following over the past several years. Featuring a crazy cast of juggling unicyclists, oversize puppets, sensitive superheroes, comedic characters sprung to life from their songs and one showstopping aerialist.

Neal Pollack became the spokesperson for a new generation of parents–the very same moms and dads who flock to The Sippy Cups shows with toddlers in tow–with the publication of his book Alternadad, The True Story of One Family’s Struggle to Raise a Cool Kid in America. Pollack, previously known mainly for his outrageous literary antics, recounts in Alternadad how he and his wife became responsible parents without sacrificing their passion for pop culture. He will be introducing the band for both shows, as well as signing and selling copies of his book, newly released in paperback by Random House, in the lobby.

Neal Pollack and The Sippy Cups last appeared together on ABC’s “Nightline” in a segment on “hipster parenting.”
    About The Sippy Cups:

Created by three dads living in a coastal town just south of San Francisco, The Sippy Cups’ first gig was a fundraiser for a community-built playground in their neighborhood. Just two years later, all their concerts sold out in advance, their CDs flew off the shelves, and critical acclaim hailed from the likes of the San Francisco Chronicle, ABC-TV, the New York Post, and Time magazine. The powerful formula of The Sippy Cups’ early success lies in their equal appeal to parents and children and a play list from The Beatles, Velvet Underground, Bowie, The Ramones and others. To top it off, their imaginative original tunes are climbing the kid radio charts and being sung by kids around the country. The San Francisco Chronicle called them “every parent’s favorite kid rock band and quite possibly the illegitimate offspring of The Cat in the Hat and Joey Ramone.”
